Gregory Scott Aldering is an American astronomer born in 1960, known for his work in discovering minor planets and supernovae. He currently works at the University of California, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. Aldering's interests include cosmology, specifically measuring cosmic parameters and investigating dark energy. He focuses on using Type Ia supernovae as tools for determining cosmic parameters and is the principal investigator of the Nearby Supernova Factory. He discovered four asteroids while at MIT and has classified about 266 supernovae, contributing to the discovery of supernova 2002bk.
