Giuseppe Avitabile was an Italian diplomat born on September 10, 1920, in Naples and died on January 13, 2010, in Rome. He served as the Consul General in Chicago from October 18, 1968, to September 1973 and as Chargé d'Affaires in New Delhi from 1973 to 1978. In January 1978, he became the Italian Consul General in Frankfurt. He investigated the fate of Italian citizens in Argentina linked to Operation Condor and served as Ambassador to Guatemala from 1984 to 1986 before retiring.
