Giovanni Battista Lucchini was an Italian aviator and military figure born on June 10, 1903, in Caprino Veronese. A highly decorated test pilot and world record holder, he achieved second place with his team in the Istres-Damascus-Paris race. During World War II, he led one of the first long-range bombing missions against the Gibraltar area, piloting the Savoia-Marchetti S.M.82 Marsupiale aircraft. He died on August 20, 1940, in Gibraltar.
