Virginia Marie 'Ginni' Rometty (born July 29, 1957) is an American business executive. She has served as the president and CEO of IBM since January 2012, becoming the first woman to hold this position. Previously, Rometty held various roles, including Senior Vice President and management of sales, marketing, and strategy. She was ranked the most powerful woman in business by Fortune for eight consecutive years, and has been recognized by Forbes and Time for her influence. Rometty joined IBM in 1981 as an engineer and has held multiple leadership roles.
