Ghanshyam Swarup is an Indian molecular biologist born in 1953. He leads the Ghanshyam Swarup Research Group at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology. Recognized for his research on glaucoma and the discovery of protein tyrosine phosphatase, which affects cell proliferation regulation, he has achieved distinguished accolades, including being a J. C. Bose National Fellow and obtaining the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in 1996. Swarup is also a fellow of prestigious scientific academies like the Indian Academy of Sciences and the Indian National Science Academy.
