Gertrud Burkhalter (1911-2000) was a Swiss educator, librarian, and dialect writer. Born in Biel, she raised in Pieterle, attended Höcheri Töchtereschuel in Zurich, and worked as secretary to author Max Pulver. From 1946 to 1973, Burkhalter was a librarian at the Pestalozzi Library in Zurich. Her literary contributions include plays and poetry that were well-received and adapted into songs. Notable works include 'Das Lehen' and 'Stygüferli'. She received several awards for her writing and her legacy is preserved in the Burgerbibliothek Bern.
