Gersi Alfredo Bays, born on May 2, 1934, is a Brazilian Esperantist who learned Esperanto in 1947. He is the publisher of the literary magazine Fonto and the Fonto publishing house in Chapecó, Santa Catarina, Brazil. Bays was one of the first regular collaborators of the international magazine Monato. He authored the original novel 'La Profeto el Pedras'. He established the Fonto publishing house in 1980 and received the prestigious FAME cultural award in 1996. From 2001 to 2010, he was a member of the Akademio de Esperanto.
