Gershon Chernyak (July 2, 1914 – April 3, 1960) was a notable lawyer in Israel, specializing in criminal law. He played a significant role in the 'Quiet Revolution' during the early years of the state, contributing to the establishment of fundamental human rights principles in Israeli law. This movement, which took place from 1948 to 1954, was marked by landmark rulings from the Supreme Court that shaped Israel's identity as a liberal democracy. Tragically, Chernyak was murdered while practicing law, prompting a public statement from the Israel Bar Association.
