Gerard van Velzen (born January 19, 1930) is a Dutch politician and former mayor associated with the Staatkundig Gereformeerde Partij. He served as the municipal secretary of his birthplace before becoming the mayor of Sint Philipsland in May 1966, a small municipality with approximately 2,100 residents at that time. In September 1972, he transitioned to the mayoralty of Goedereede, where he remained until his retirement on February 1, 1995. His tenure was marked by political stability and popularity among residents, despite some controversial decisions.
