Gérard Daille was a French admiral born on February 6, 1916, in Jacob-Bellecombette, Savoie. He served in the Free French Naval Forces during World War II and continued his career in the French Navy post-war, holding various commands including that of the aircraft carrier Clemenceau. In the early 1970s, he served as the maritime prefect of Brest and later as the Inspector General of the Navy. Daille passed away on February 6, 2000, in Arcachon, Gironde.
