Gerald Marley Palmer (30 January 1911 – 23 June 1999) was a notable British car designer renowned for his work in the automotive industry. He grew up in Southern Rhodesia and later returned to England to pursue an engineering career. Palmer was instrumental in the design of several cars, including the MG Y-type and Jowett Javelin. He served as chief engineer at the British Motor Corporation and contributed to the Vauxhall Motors range. After retiring in 1972, he continued innovating and wrote an autobiography documenting his experiences in automobile design.
