He gained fame for hosting the record request show Housewives' Choice during the 1950s and 60s and for his song 'I Like Bananas Because They Have No Bones'. After starting his career in local bands, he became a radio star, noted for his Scottish accent and memorable catchphrases. He later worked as an agent for musicians and wrote an autobiography. Elrick was well-regarded in the entertainment industry and left a lasting legacy.
