Geoffrey Gower-Jones was an Anglican priest born on April 30, 1910, into an ecclesiastical family. He studied at Brasenose College, Oxford, and was ordained in 1934. His early career included curacies in Royton and Prestwich. Gower-Jones became Vicar of Belfield in 1943 and later served as Vicar of St Stephen-on-the-Cliffs in Blackpool. He was appointed Archdeacon of Lancaster, where he served from 1966 until 1980, contributing significantly to the church during and after this period.
