Gene Casey was an American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger born on January 16, 1933, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and died on September 28, 2003, in Los Angeles. He played with the Latin Jazz Quintet and contributed to albums in the early 1960s, including Shirley Scott's 'Mucho Mucho' and Eric Dolphy's 'Caribe.' He worked with notable artists such as Oliver Nelson and Jimmy Forrest. He later became the musical director for Labelle and co-wrote the song 'Lucky in Love' with Fredrick Oakes.
