Genaro 'Henny' Álvarez was a Puerto Rican composer, percussionist, and singer known for his contributions to Latin music. He started as a jockey aspirant, later performing as an artist and boxer. He moved to New York in 1948, gaining fame as a percussionist and singer. Álvarez was part of various orchestras and composed notable works like 'Hommy / A Latin Opera.' He coordinated performances for the Museo del Barrio and played significant roles in Salsa music. In the 1980s, he returned to Puerto Rico and continued his musical career until his last unfinished project, the Salsa-opera Eco Divino.
