Geminio Ognio was an Italian swimmer and water polo player born on December 13, 1917, in Recco. He competed in the 1940s and 1950s, winning five national championships in swimming events such as 400m, 1500m, and 4x200m freestyle. However, he is best known for his achievements in water polo, where he won an Olympic gold medal in the 1948 London Games and a bronze medal at the 1952 Helsinki Games. Additionally, he secured victory in the 1947 European Water Polo Championship.
