Geirr Wiggen is a Norwegian dr.philos. and since 1992 a professor of Nordic language science at the University of Oslo, focusing on subject didactics. He resides in Oslo. His research primarily addresses various topics in applied linguistics. Wiggen served as a lecturer and associate professor at Elverum Teacher Training College from 1976 to 1990, and was the head of the Bokmål section at the Norwegian Language Council from 1988 to 1996. He received his dr.philos. in 1992 and is a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters.
