John Gavin Andrews is a prominent Australian academic psychiatrist and Emeritus Professor at the University of New South Wales. He founded the Clinical Research Unit for Anxiety and Depression in 1964 and significantly contributed to the introduction of cognitive behaviour therapy in Australia. He was influential in creating clinical practice guidelines in psychiatry and launching the National Survey of Mental Health to assess mental illness prevalence in Australia. Andrews retired in 2018 and won the University of New South Wales' 2018 Australian Mental Health Prize.
