Gaston Bastiaens (born 16 December 1946) is a Belgian engineer and businessman known for his role in the development of the Compact Disc and other multimedia technologies at Philips Electronics. He graduated with distinction in Electrical and Nuclear Engineering and served in the military before joining Philips. He advanced CD technology, including CD-ROM and CD-I projects. Later, he worked at Apple, managing the launch of the Apple Newton, before becoming CEO of Lernout & Hauspie. In 2001, he faced fraud accusations, culminating in a 2010 conviction.
