Gary 'Magic' Marker (1943-2015) was an influential American bass guitarist and recording engineer known for his work in psychedelic rock bands during the 1960s. He was a member of the Rising Sons and played with notable artists such as Captain Beefheart. Though he contributed to the production of 'Safe as Milk,' his involvement with Captain Beefheart's Magic Band was sporadic. Marker had also led bands like Fusion and was a session musician until his retirement, remaining engaged with music until his death from a stroke in 2015.
