Gamal El-Ghitani was an Egyptian novelist and journalist, serving as editor-in-chief of the Egyptian newspaper Akhbar Al-Adab. He was known for his unique literary project that drew inspiration from Egyptian heritage, creating a remarkable narrative world considered one of the most mature experiences in contemporary Arabic literature. He was greatly influenced by his mentor, Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz, and worked to revive forgotten Arabic texts while providing a modern perspective.
