Ostwin Fritz Menzer was a German cryptologist born on April 6, 1908, in Herrndorf, Saxony. He worked in the codes division of the Wehrmacht High Command (OKW/Chi) before and during World War II. Later, he served in the Abwehr, the military intelligence service of the Wehrmacht. His roles included the development and manufacture of cryptographic devices and methods, as well as overseeing the security of these techniques. Menzer passed away on October 25, 2005, in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe.
