Fric Keršič was a Slovenian miner, trade unionist, and national hero born on July 15, 1908, in Ojstro, and died on November 21, 1942, in Trbovlje. Politically active before WWII, he joined the Communist Party of Yugoslavia in 1932 and the Communist Party of Slovenia in 1937. He was involved in the labor movement and organized strikes. After the occupation of Yugoslavia, he worked underground, becoming secretary of the local Communist Committee in Trbovlje. Captured by German forces in 1942, he died from injuries and torture in prison.
