Fredrik Ludvig Fasting Torgersen was a Norwegian man convicted of murdering a 16-year-old girl in 1958. He spent 16 years in prison before being released. In 2013, a daughter of a judge from his trial stated that her father had been biased against Torgersen even before the trial began. In 2014, he was denied access to official recordings regarding the case. A poll indicated that 80% of Norwegians believed Torgersen deserved a new trial. After his death in 2015, attempts were made to reopen the case.
