Frederick George Hobbs was a New Zealand rugby union player born on 18 March 1920 in Christchurch. He was active in the 1940s, primarily as a forward. Hobbs made his debut for Canterbury at the age of 20, but his career was interrupted due to military service during World War II. He served as vice captain of the All Blacks during the 1947 tour of Australia, participating in six uncapped matches, with three as captain, though injuries prevented him from competing in the Test matches.
