Franz Buggle was a German psychologist and critic of religion. He studied psychology, philosophy, education, and economics in Freiburg and Munich. Buggle served as a research assistant at the Psychological Institute in Freiburg and later became a lecturer at the University of Hamburg. He held a professorship at the University of Regensburg before becoming an ordinarius professor at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg, from which he retired in 1998. His critical work on religion concluded that the Bible is unsuitable as a basis for modern ethics. He was involved with organizations promoting atheism.
