Filippo Di Giovanni was an Italian aviator and military member born in Palermo on March 7, 1919. He served as a third-class motor marshal in the Italian Air Force. Di Giovanni was killed in Kindu, Democratic Republic of the Congo, during a massacre that took place in the night of November 11 and 12, 1961. In recognition of his bravery, he was posthumously awarded the Gold Medal for Military Valor in 1994.
