Mataresi was known for his notable portraits of figures like Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and Giovanni Paolo II. His works are present in various public collections, including the Civic Museum Giovanni Fattori in Livorno. A reserved artist, he dedicated his life to painting and teaching a few students.
