Fernando Mendizabal Mujika was a Basque translator and linguist, recognized for his contributions to Basque literature and language. He was a Franciscan friar until around 1980 and co-founded the magazine Jakin with notable figures in the Basque community. His translations include works by prominent authors and he played a pivotal role in developing legal language in the Basque language at the University of the Basque Country. Mendizabal also published several books and was influential in establishing academic programs teaching Basque law terminology.
