Fern Alberta Blodgett Sunde (1918-1991) was a pioneering Canadian wireless radio operator who made history during World War II as the first Canadian woman to hold a second-class wireless operator's certificate and to serve with the merchant marines. She worked on the Norwegian merchant vessel M/S Mosdale during the Battle of the Atlantic. In 1943, she became the first woman to receive the Norwegian War Medal, recognizing her significant contributions at sea. She is noted for her groundbreaking achievements in a male-dominated field.
