Feodosi Rubtsov was a Soviet ethnomusicologist known for his research on Russian folk songs. He proposed a theory suggesting that ancient Russian napevi folk songs feature anhemitonic scales, distinguishing them from conventional tonal structures. Such songs can begin and end on any pitch. He was also one of the first composers in the Soviet Union to produce concert music for the accordion, exemplified by his work 'Concerto No. 1 for Bayan and Russian Folk Music Orchestra,' recognized as the first significant classical composition specifically for the bayan.
