Felipe Tomas Lettersten (1957–2003) was a sculptor originally from Peru who lived in Sweden. He began his work in 1986 focusing on preserving Amazon rainforest cultures by casting sculptures of indigenous people. His aim was to educate Western audiences on the importance of respecting these cultures. His notable work, 'Sons of Our Land', comprises around 300 statues featuring various indigenous tribes, with many exhibited in museums across Peru and Brazil, as well as Puerto Rico. Lettersten’s practice included making multiple copies of his sculptures, honoring the tribes.
