Fayeq Abdul-Jaleel was a prominent Kuwaiti poet known for his works in both colloquial and classical Arabic. He gained widespread recognition for his popular songs in the Arab world. Born on May 5, 1948, in Kuwait, he initially pursued a career in painting before transitioning to poetry. During the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990, he was arrested by Iraqi forces and became one of the most famous prisoners under Saddam Hussein's regime, with his fate remaining unknown for 15 years until his remains were found in a mass grave in 2006.
