Frederick Carlton Ball (1911–1992) was an influential American multidisciplinary artist, author, and educator. He specialized as a potter, painter, and jeweler and notably became the first ceramicist in California to create large-scale thrown pots around 1935. His teaching career spanned multiple institutions, including the California College of Arts and Crafts, Mills College, Southern Illinois University, the University of Puget Sound, and the University of Wisconsin. In recognition of his contributions to the field, he was elected to the American Craft Council College of Fellows in 1983.
