Evald Teras (1929-2009) was an Estonian teacher, choir conductor, and local historian. He graduated from Kärdla Keskkool in 1949 and Tallinn Music School in 1972 specializing in choir conducting. Teras taught at Lauka 7-class School and Kärdla Keskkool, where he was the music teacher of Erkki-Sven Tüür. From 1997 to 2009, he conducted the mixed choir of EELK Kärdla Church and conducted research on the history of Hiiumaa. He was also a founding member of the Tobias Society.
