Eugene Raskin, also known as Gene Raskin, was an American musician and playwright born on September 5, 1909, in the Bronx, New York. He is best known for writing the English lyrics to the Russian song "Those Were the Days". Additionally, he authored three books on architecture and served as an adjunct professor at Columbia University from 1936 to 1976, contributing significantly to both music and education until his passing on June 7, 2004, in Manhattan, New York.
