Ernst Gartmann was a Swiss musician, yodeler, and conductor from the canton of St. Gallen. Born on December 17, 1905, in Valens, he received piano and organ lessons while growing up. Professionally a teacher, he conducted church choirs in several locations including Wangs and Bad Ragaz. Gartmann served as a judge at nine national yodeling festivals, and he was also a composer and arranger. He contributed to the Swiss Yodeling Association and was the editor of the association's newspaper.
