Ernest Eugene Zampese was a prominent American football coach in the NFL, known for his role as the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator with the San Diego Chargers. A talented player in high school, he was the CIF Player of the Year in 1953. He played at USC and later transitioned to coaching at the college level before joining the NFL. His career spanned from 1976 to 1999, contributing significantly to various teams and gaining acclaim under coach Don Coryell. He was also the father of NFL coach Ken Zampese.
