Erkki Halme was a Finnish fisheries biologist born on September 11, 1912, in Sortavala. He served as an adjunct professor of fisheries science and applied limnology at the University of Helsinki from 1946 and became the director (professor) of the fisheries research office under the Ministry of Agriculture in 1951. He was recognized for his contributions to the field of fisheries biology. His son, Aarne Halme, is also a professor.
