Erkki Vilho Airas was a Finnish priest, doctor of philosophy, and writer born on September 24, 1908, in Raahe. He began his ministerial career as a sailor priest in London in 1933. During the Winter War, he served as a military chaplain at the Suomussalmi front. Airas pursued studies in group therapy in the United States, promoting it within the Finnish Church through several publications. He earned a Ph.D. in psychology in 1956, with a focus on the sense of guilt. He retired from his last role as rector of Roihuvuori parish in 1972.
