Erik Nylén (October 18, 1918 – December 18, 2017) was a Swedish prehistorian noted for his research on the Iron Age on Gotland, where he earned his PhD in 1955. Serving as the head of the Gotland department of the Swedish National Heritage Board from 1970 to 1984, he was instrumental in numerous excavations on the island. Nylén introduced modern documentation and surveying techniques like aerial photography and X-ray imaging. He was married to archaeologist Lena Thunmark-Nylén.
