Born on May 9, 1946, in Lund, he studied Protestant theology and was ordained in 1972. Aurelius worked as a pastor and lecturer, earning a Doctorate in Theology. He specializes in the narrative books of the Old Testament. His family includes several clerical figures, and after retirement, he returned to Lund, where his wife, Eva Haettner Aurelius, is a professor.
