Poul Erik Aarestrup (1923-2011) was a Danish resistance member during WWII. He was arrested by Nazis but escaped execution due to a misidentification. Aarestrup endured forced labor and medical experiments in concentration camps before being liberated. After the war, he resumed police service and assisted fellow veterans and victims of wartime abuses. Additionally, he wrote a fishing column for Helsingør Dagblad for over 30 years. Throughout his life, he received numerous honors for his resistance work and contributions to veteran organizations. He is buried in Helsingør Cemetery.
