Erich Straßner (April 17, 1933 - May 7, 2012) was a German linguist and media scholar. He served as a professor at the Eberhard-Karls-University Tübingen until 2001, focusing on media linguistics and the history of the German language. His research included the language use during the Nazi dictatorship. He co-edited the comprehensive three-volume standard work 'Medienwissenschaft. Ein Handbuch zur Entwicklung der Medien und Kommunikationsformen' (1999–2002) and established the department of Media Studies and Journalism at the University of Tübingen.
