Eric Peters was a British tennis player known for his patient, defensive style. An Oxford graduate, he actively competed during the late 1920s and 1930s, regularly participating at Wimbledon. Peters reached the mixed doubles quarter-finals in 1930 and famously defeated Bill Tilden at Cannes that same year, marking him as the first British amateur to achieve this feat. He also secured a notable win over Bunny Austin and challenged Jean Borotra to five sets. Married to fellow tennis player Effie Hemmant in 1932, he was also involved in the family business.
