Eric Antonio Goles Chacc is a Chilean mathematician and computer scientist of Croatian descent, born on August 21, 1951, in Antofagasta, Chile. He studied civil engineering at the University of Chile and earned two doctorates from the University of Grenoble, France. Currently a professor at the University of Chile, Goles is recognized for his contributions to cellular automata. He has held significant positions, such as President of CONICYT and advisor on science and technology to the Chilean government. He currently teaches and conducts research at the Adolfo Ibáñez University.
