Erhart Kästner was a German writer and librarian, born on March 13, 1904, in Schweinfurt, and died on February 3, 1974, in Staufen im Breisgau. He gained recognition for his books about Greece, which he initially wrote for soldiers during World War II and later revised. Kästner significantly influenced the Herzog August Bibliothek in Wolfenbüttel, which he expanded from 1950 and led until 1968.
