He completed his butcher apprenticeship in his parents' shop and became a partner in 1942. He served in a tank division during World War II. Preissinger was active in vocational organizations and held positions such as president of the Chamber of Crafts for Upper Franconia, and he was a city council member from 1966 to 1990. He also represented the crafts in the Bavarian Senate from 1984 to 1993.
