Eloy Giménez Laguardia, born on September 30, 1927, in Zaragoza, is a Spanish painter recognized as one of the pioneers of abstract painting in Spain. He was a key member of the Grupo Pórtico, joining in 1948. Initially trained in technical drawing, he worked as a draftsman and transitioned from expressionism and cubism to abstraction after 1948. After relocating to Madrid and later San Sebastián, he paused painting until 1975. His notable work, 'Rejas' (1950), features a critique of post-war social and political issues, depicted through rigid geometry and bold colors.
