Elmo Shropshire, born on October 26, 1936, is an American veterinarian, competitive runner, and country music singer. He is best known for his Christmas novelty song 'Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer', which he originally recorded in 1979 with his then-wife Patsy. Shropshire later re-recorded the song for his 1992 album 'Dr. Elmo's Christmas Album' and again in 2000 for the album 'Over the Chimney Top'. Often performing under the name 'Dr. Elmo', he has made significant contributions to comedic country music.
